Michael King:
10/10/2011
Michael is getting better. He still cannot walk on his foot, but the doctor said it is healing well.
7/6/2011
Michael fell and broke his left leg in four places on Saturday, July 2nd. He is being released from the hospital Wednesday, July 6th. He is still in good spirits but feeling a lot of pain.
4/7/2011
On Tuesday April 5th, Michael was seen at the Pittsburgh's Children’s Hospital for another heart biopsy. The results came back as a "zero" again. This is great news for Mike yet again. His heart is doing very well after the Stem Cell treatments he received in California last June. Mike has never been a "zero" before and now this is the second time in six months that he has been a zero. The Doctors in Pittsburgh will be talking to us within the next couple of days about taking him off the rejection drugs. He still struggles with his Muscular Dystrophy.
3/14/2011
Michael still feels good and has a lot more energy than ever before.
1/10/2011
Michael is still doing well after his Stem Cell treatments. He has increased energy and is more active than ever before. He will be going to Pittsburgh for another heart Biopsy on February 25th and we expect the result to remain the same as the last Biopsy with zero rejection. This could result in the doctors removing him from some if not all of his rejection medication.
8/9/2010
Michael went to Pittsburgh on Friday for a routine heart biopsy to check for rejection, Michael's transplant doctor called Saturday and told us that he was a zero, no rejection at all, he has never been a zero. The scale is zero being the best and four being the worst. This is wonderful news and now the transplant team might just take him off his rejection meds. So the stem cell therapy has made the body accept his heart.
Jackson King:
10/10/2011
Jackson still continues to improve. He is making a lot of different sounds and movements. He also continues his acuscope treatments daily.
7/6/2011
Jackson is still receiving Acuscope treatments daily and is still showing improvement. We still plan on continuing Stem Cell treatments for both boys in the very near future.
3/14/2011
Jackson continues to make progress. He is making a lot of different sounds and continues to receive acuscope treatments daily.
1/10/2011
Jackson continues to receive Acuscope treatments 2 hours per day at home and is responding well with these treatments. His eyes no longer flutter and are fixed on the person talking to him. He also looks around at his surroundings with movement in both arms and hands.
11/22/2010
Jackson said the word “Hi” twice on Saturday, November 20th. He continues to receive hyperbaric oxygen treatments every Saturday at the Pittsburgh Hyperbaric Oxygen center.
10/18/2010
Jackson has had 8 additional hours of Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments and has started Electro Acuscope treatments at the Pittsburgh Hyperbaric Oxygen center. Electro Acuscope sends low electric signals through the brain. He has shown progress with this treatment, relaxed muscle throughout the body, tracking more, and more body movement.
9/7/2010
Jackson completed 5 hours of hyperbaric oxygen treatments Labor Day weekend and responded very well to the treatments. Dr. Frank Morganti who is the Director of the Pittsburgh Hyperbaric Institute had Jackson closing his eyes and making sounds on command after the fifth hour of treatment. We will be traveling to Pittsburgh weekly for 4 hours of treatment per week.
8/26/2010
We will be traveling to Pittsburgh on a weekly basis starting September 3, to the Pittsburgh Hyperbaric Institute to have Jackson treated with Hyperbaric Oxygen. This has shown to have a great effect on people with Traumatic Brain Injuries.
8/9/2010
Jackson is still very alert, but still unable to speak. With more stem cells given to Jackson we believe we can have him talking.
Mission Viejo, California:
7/16/2010
We have successfully gone and returned from Mission Viejo, California. Both boys have received Adult, and Cord blood stem cells. We have seen some improvement in their condition. Mike's blood sugars have almost returned to normal, he has only had to take one insulin injection since returning from California and after checking his blood sugar several times per day. This is a wonderful improvement, it is not the condition he wanted treated but is still a wonderful achievement. We will still continue to try and treat Mike's Muscular dystrophy.
Jackson's condition has also improved after receiving Adult and Cord blood stem cells. He is a lot more alert and has made different facial expressions, he has also made a lot more sounds and looks a lot to the left which he did not do prior to receiving Stem cell treatments. Jackson is well aware of what is going around him and fights every day trying to talk.
We are planning to go back to Mission Viejo. We will be going on a Friday and returning on Saturday in the near future. It is a very simple procedure and only takes 2 to 4 hours to complete. We cut our stay short in Mission Viejo after the boys received Cord blood stem cells because they could not receive any other treatments for 3 to 4 weeks after. We believe that Stem Cell treatments are the answer to many medical conditions and will continue to seek treatments to get our boys back to good health. We would like to thank all who continue to support our family with our journey to get our boys back to good health.
Thank you,
Jack & Donna King
